Australia LEI processes and utilises personal data as described in this document.
Australia LEI operates as an LEI Registration Agent and cooperates with Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF)-accredited Local Operating Units. Australia LEI collects the data of legal entities. Data collection takes place on the website when the representative of the legal entity applies to obtain or renew its Legal Entity Identifier (LEI). After receiving the application, Australia LEI may request additional information by e-mail or by phone, if required. Australia LEI only collects data that is necessary to apply, renew, or update an LEI.
Australia LEI processes data, such as a legal entity’s business name, registration number, legal address, address of headquarters, parent company information, name and surname of the representative, e-mail address, authorisation documents (Power of Attorney), phone number, and payment details. Australia LEI expects that such data is related to the legal entities only and, therefore, is not considered as personal data under the definitions of the privacy laws. However, if the data regarding the individuals (representative of the legal entity), falls under the definition of personal data, we herein describe how this data is processed.
What personal data we collect
Australia LEI collects personal data from individuals who are representing legal entities. The name and his/her contact information (e-mail/ phone number) will be stored in Australia LEI´s databases. The data is collected when the representative of the legal entity applies to Australia LEI’s website.
Purposes for which personal data is processed
Australia LEI collects personal data of individuals representing legal entities to register, renew, and update LEI codes for legal entities.
The lawful basis for the processing of personal data is the fulfilment of the contract.
Australia LEI does not send e-mails for direct marketing purposes. E-mails are used to provide reminders and maintain communication with clients.
Personal data regarding the individuals who are representing legal entities will not be publicly displayed.
Data subjects’ rights
Right to access. Individuals may access or receive information regarding his/her personal data.
Right to data portability. Any individual has the right to receive his/her personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and to independently transmit those data to a third party.
Right to erasure. Any individual has the right to request the deletion of personal data if the personal data are no longer necessary for related purposes.

Data storage and retention period
Australia LEI stores data and documents in accordance with GLEIF requirements. In the event of a dispute, the personal data will be retained until an agreement is reached or until the due date for the claim expires. The personal data is stored in secure servers in the European Union.
Australia LEI may update this Privacy Notice at any time if required to reflect changes in data processing practices, in personal data protection laws or otherwise.
