General information

Australian companies need LEI code to trade in OTC derivatives in local marketplace. LEIs are obligatory within ASIC’s framework, which has made LEI adoption more widespread in the country. In addition, there are different other financial markets that require LEI codes from Australian companies wishing to trade there; European marketplace being one of them for example. Continuous effort in making financial transactions safer and more transparent has led to the proposal of number of acts that support further LEI issuance in Australia.
